August 2026 Weekday Tournament
Partners Net Better Ball
The Sunset Flight was won by veteran members Thomas Broten/Jag Chopra with a ham and egg tournament low net 60! Long-time club members Joe Ryan/Adolph Weiss shot a net 62 to finish right behind them in their flight.
The September Weekday Tournament will be played Sept. 14-18. The format is Individual Low Net. Information will be sent out Sept. 1.

Ahhh, summertime at Los Verdes! Warm weather, long days to play later, and the gorgeous ocean views!
And what better way to have fun than to play with another member in a Partner Net Better Ball tournament!
The competition was stiff, scores were low; 26 teams, 11 pairs shooting net 65 or lower, and only 2 pairs over net par.
Veteran golfers talk about “ham and egg it” to score well in a partner better ball competition. This refers to at least one of the partners playing well on each hole. And as low net scores are obtained with good putting on the greens, we can call this “Green Eggs and Ham it” (with apologies to Dr. Seuss!)
Tim Fetzer/Brent Hannon won the Sunrise Flight with a stellar score of net 61, tied for second lowest score of the tournament! They edged Jim Battle/Scott Sullivan by two strokes (net 63).
The other net 61, tied for second lowest score, was shot by Eric Bennett/Frank Hironaka who won the High Noon Flight! Many times guys partner with someone they frequently play with; other times they become partners by chance. Yoshi Kawamoto announced he was looking for Thursday Seniors partner. By chance he partnered with Dane Eurich and they combined for a net 64, second in their flight!

Individual Tin Whistle
Summertime has arrived at Los Verdes, bringing glorious weather and spectacular ocean views across the course. The July Weekday Tournament featured the Individual Tin Whistle, also known as Stableford, a format where players earn points for strong hole scores: 1 point for net par, 3 points for net birdie, and 5 points for net eagle. It is a fun format because one or two difficult holes can be overcome with a few strong scores throughout the round.
This year’s tournament delivered some excellent results. Mike Formica captured the Sky Rocket Flight with a strong total of 28 points, edging Michael Jensen by just one point. In the Firecracker Flight, Jeff Bille posted the top score of the tournament with an outstanding 34 points, finishing ahead of Tom Etsten and Svein Fougner, who tied for second with 26 points.
The Sparkler Flight was won by John Fabis with an impressive 31 points, the second-highest point total of the tournament. He finished one point ahead of Dennis Beard, who took second place in the flight. Congratulations to all the winners and participants.
