August 2026 Weekday Tournament

Partners Net Better Ball

The August 2026 Weekday Tournament will be played Monday, August 17 through Friday, August 21, 2026. This month’s event is a Partners Net Better Ball format, giving players the opportunity to team up and compete together over 18 holes. Members should arrange their own tee times during the tournament week.

Please note that members who are playing in the August Weekend Tournament are not eligible to compete in the Weekday Tournament.

Tee Times and Entry

Players are responsible for getting their own tee times and paying the starter for green fees and cart. There are no sign-up fees and no Golf Genius registration for this Weekday Tournament.

Each player must play with at least one other LVMC member who must sign the scorecard.

Format

The format for August is Partners Net Better Ball.

Players should select a partner before playing. The team score will be the net better ball on each hole. Handicaps will be based on each player’s index on the day of play. Players may calculate the net better ball score for each hole, but it is not required. The Tournament Captain will calculate it for all submitted cards.

Tees

Play will be from the permanent white markers to make the tournament more equitable across the five days of play. The only exception is the 1st tee, where players should use the movable markers.

Per current club guidelines, a maximum score of 10 strokes on any hole is allowed.

Scorecard Procedure

Players should use the regular course scorecard. Please write each player’s full name legibly and record each player’s gross score for every hole. Partners must be clearly identified on the card.

After the round, place the completed scorecard in the Blue Plastic Weekday Tournament Box in the Pro Shop. Cards will be collected Saturday morning, and scores and handicaps will be checked for accuracy.

Scorecards must be legibly signed by the scorer and attester, or include GHIN information. All rounds must also be posted as Home scores on the SCGA website.

Disqualification

Players may be disqualified for failure to play according to SCGA/USGA rules as amended by local rules, failure to play with another club member, or submitting a scorecard that is missing required elements, including one or both legible signatures by members.

July 2026 Weekday Tournament Snapshots

Individual Tin Whistle

Summertime has arrived at Los Verdes, bringing glorious weather and spectacular ocean views across the course. The July Weekday Tournament featured the Individual Tin Whistle, also known as Stableford, a format where players earn points for strong hole scores: 1 point for net par, 3 points for net birdie, and 5 points for net eagle. It is a fun format because one or two difficult holes can be overcome with a few strong scores throughout the round.

This year’s tournament delivered some excellent results. Mike Formica captured the Sky Rocket Flight with a strong total of 28 points, edging Michael Jensen by just one point. In the Firecracker Flight, Jeff Bille posted the top score of the tournament with an outstanding 34 points, finishing ahead of Tom Etsten and Svein Fougner, who tied for second with 26 points.

The Sparkler Flight was won by John Fabis with an impressive 31 points, the second-highest point total of the tournament. He finished one point ahead of Dennis Beard, who took second place in the flight. Congratulations to all the winners and participants.
