May Monthly Tournament 1-2-3 Waltz

Registration is now open for our May Monthly Tournament — 123 Waltz, scheduled for Saturday, May 16, 2026, at Los Verdes Golf Course.

This will be a fun four-player team format where each golfer plays their own ball, and the number of net scores counted changes throughout the round.

Format: 123 Waltz
Tees: White Moveable Markers
Entry Fee: $95 per golfer

Format: 123 Waltz

Each player plays their own ball using stroke play. Team scoring follows a rotating 1-2-3 format:

• Holes 1, 4, 7, 10, 13, 16: 1 best net score counts

• Holes 2, 5, 8, 11, 14, 17: 2 best net scores count

• Holes 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18: 3 best net scores count

The total team score is the sum of the best net scores counted across all 18 holes.

All flights will play from the White Moveable Markers.

Playing This Round with the Eclectic Cup or President Cup

This tournament round may also be played at the same time as an Eclectic Cup or President Cup round.

Payouts & Contests

Payouts and contests will include:

• Top 7 places per flight

• 123 Waltz Net

• 123 Waltz Gross

• Closest-to-the-Pin on holes #3, #5, #12, and #17

• Mongol King Birdies or Better on #12

Eligibility

This tournament is open to all regular LVMC members with a valid January 2026 SCGA Handicap Index.

Rules & Scoring

1. The Los Verdes Competition Index will be used at 85%.

2. All flights will play from the White Moveable Markers.

3. Play will follow the 2026 USGA Rules of Golf, as amended by LVMC local rules.

4. Please record your gross score on the paper scorecard.

5. Scores will be posted as Competitive Scores.

6. We will be using digital scoring through the Golf Genius app.

7. Your scorecard will include a Golf Genius code. One player in the group should enter the scores using an iPhone or Android device.

8. Please keep the paper scorecard, as it must match the scores entered into Golf Genius.

9. LVMC Pace of Play policies will be enforced.

Local Rules

Free relief is allowed from:

• Smut grass

• Tree roots

• Unusual conditions in bunkers/sand traps

Additional local rule:

• Penalty area delimited with a red line on Hole #16 will be in effect for this tournament.

  A golf penalty area marked with a red line (or red stakes) allows you to play the ball as it lies without penalty or take one-stroke relief options:

  (1) stroke-and-distance,

  (2) back-on-the-line, or

  (3) lateral relief.

  
  The key, distinct advantage of a red penalty area is the lateral relief option, which lets you drop a ball within two club-lengths of the entry point.
