🏆 A Season-Long Head-to-Head Battle

The Senior Match Play Tournament is one of LVMGC’s premier season-long events, built for players who enjoy the challenge, strategy, and pressure of true head-to-head golf.

This is not just another round. Every hole matters. Every putt can swing the match. One player advances, one player goes home, and the bracket gets tougher each month.

Played from May through October, the Senior Match Play gives our senior members a fun and competitive way to test their game, meet other members, and chase a spot in the Championship Match.

Match Play is one of golf’s most exciting formats because you are not playing against the entire field — you are playing directly against your opponent.

A bad hole does not ruin your round. A great shot can win the hole. Momentum can change quickly, and every match has its own story.

Whether you win 1 up on the 18th hole or close out a match early, Senior Match Play brings a different kind of energy to the season.

📋 Tournament Overview

Tournament Window: May through October
Format: Individual Single-Elimination Match Play
Eligibility: Open to current LVMGC members who are 55 or older as of the first day of tournament play
Field Size: 64 players maximum
Handicap Basis: Los Verdes Tournament Index, fixed for the entire tournament
Tees: White movable tee markers

📅 How the Tournament Works

Players are placed into a single-elimination bracket. Each round is played during its assigned month, and the winner advances to the next round.

The tournament continues until two players remain for the Championship Match in October.

Round Schedule:

May: Round of 64
June: Round of 32
July: Sweet Sixteen
August: Elite Eight
September: Final Four
October: Championship Match
