Eclectic Cup
Eclectic Cup- Official Rules and Procedures
Eligibility: Players must be current LVMC members with a valid SCGA Handicap Index.
Please read these rules carefully before participating. By entering this tournament, each player agrees to follow all tournament procedures, deadlines, scoring requirements, attestation requirements, Golf Genius procedures, and scorecard requirements.
Important Handicap Update
For the current tournament season, the Eclectic Cup will continue to use a 90% allowance of the Los Verdes Tournament Index.
Beginning with the 2027 Eclectic Cup, the handicap allowance will change to 70% of the Los Verdes Tournament Index.
1) Format
The Eclectic Cup is a multi-round satellite tournament where each player’s final score is calculated using the best net score recorded on each hole across all eligible Eclectic Cup rounds.
Players may submit up to five eligible rounds during the tournament window.
Only one Eclectic Cup round may be submitted per calendar month.
There are no make-up rounds. Missed months will be recorded as No Show.
Rounds may be played from the White or Blue movable tee markers, not the permanent tee plates.
The player must select or clearly indicate the tee being played. If the tee is not properly indicated, the White Tees will be used.
2) Eligible Rounds
Eclectic Cup rounds may be played as individual rounds at Los Verdes Golf Course.
Eclectic Cup rounds may also be played concurrently with eligible LVMC stroke-play events or official club activity rounds where the format is stroke play.
To be eligible, the player must play his own ball tee-to-green. No gimmies are allowed. All putts must be holed.
The player must be paired with another LVMC member who will attest the scorecard.
3) Flights and Handicap
A maximum of four flights will be used.
The number of flights will be determined by the total number of registered players, with the goal of creating fair and reasonable flight sizes.
Players will be assigned to flights after registration closes based on their Los Verdes Tournament Index.
Some flights may have slightly unequal numbers.
For the current tournament season, a 90% allowance of the Los Verdes Tournament Index will be applied.
Beginning with the 2027 Eclectic Cup, a 70% allowance of the Los Verdes Tournament Index will be applied.
The handicap index used for a submitted round will be the index associated with that round in Golf Genius.
4) Prior to Playing an Eclectic Cup Round
Before playing an Eclectic Cup round, the player must register the monthly round through the official Eclectic Cup round registration process.
The entered round date and tee time must be after the monthly round registration submission.
Retroactive registrations are not allowed and will be rejected.
The monthly round registration will request the required player, round, tee time, tee selection, and round-type information.
Players must declare to their LVMC playing partners that they are playing an Eclectic Cup round before teeing off.
Once a player registers a monthly round, the player is committed to completing that Eclectic Cup round.
5) Golf Genius Scoring
If the Eclectic Cup round is not being played as part of a weekend monthly tournament, the player must record the round in Golf Genius hole by hole on the day the round is played.
If the Eclectic Cup round is being played as part of a weekend monthly tournament, the player must still enter the Eclectic Cup score in Golf Genius using the Eclectic Cup GGID provided for that round.
Rounds played as part of a weekend monthly tournament will not be posted twice, because the weekend monthly tournament score is posted separately through the monthly tournament process.
6) Scoring the Round
Players must record their gross score on each hole.
The maximum score allowed on any hole is 10.
The maximum score of 10 is a fixed number for every hole. It is not double par and does not change based on whether the hole is a par 3, par 4, or par 5.
Any hole played with a temporary green or temporary tee must be scored as Net Par, which is par plus any handicap strokes received on that hole.
The final Eclectic Cup score is calculated using the player’s best net score on each hole across all eligible submitted rounds.
7) Incomplete Rounds
Once a player registers a monthly Eclectic Cup round, the player is expected to complete that round.
Illness or injury exceptions must be reported to the Satellite Tournament Captain through the contact page in the Golf Genius portal.
Incomplete rounds without a valid reason will result in round disqualification.
8) After the Round
After the round, the player must ensure the scorecard is fully completed.
The scorecard must include:
Player name
Date of play
Tees played
Hole-by-hole gross scores
Player signature
Readable attesting member fullname
Attesting member signature
Attesting member score
The attesting member must sign the scorecard and must have posted their own round. The attester’s posted score may be verified.
The completed physical scorecard must be deposited in the Satellite Box located at the pro shop.
The player must also complete the post-round submission process through the official Eclectic Cup round registration website.
9) Score Posting
Eclectic Cup rounds will be posted as competition scores through Golf Genius, except for rounds played as part of a weekend monthly tournament.
Players should not post their Eclectic Cup score separately if the round is already being posted through Golf Genius or through the weekend monthly tournament process. Duplicate score posting may create posting issues.
Scores that cannot be verified in GHIN within 48 hours may result in round disqualification. This includes verification of the attesting member’s posted score.
10) Standings
Standings will be distributed during the tournament season and posted through the designated tournament communication channels.
Final standings will be distributed after the tournament window closes.
For ties, Golf Genius or USGA-style countback procedures may be used to determine the winner.
The countback method may compare:
Last 9 holes
Last 6 holes
Last 3 holes
18th hole
If a tie still remains, the Committee may determine the appropriate final tie-breaking method.
11) Eclectic Cup Championship
Each flight winner qualifies for the Eclectic Cup Championship.
Ties within flights will be broken using Golf Genius tie-breakers or the Committee-approved tie-breaking method.
If a flight winner cannot participate, the next eligible finisher may be invited.
The Eclectic Cup Championship is played in October and must be completed by the championship deadline.
The Eclectic Cup Championship is an 18-hole net match play event.
The Eclectic Cup Championship will be played from the White permanent tees unless otherwise communicated by the Committee.
Detailed championship information will be provided to the qualifying players.
The winner will be recognized as the LVMC Eclectic Cup Champion.
12) Enforcement
Failure to follow the Eclectic Cup Rules & Procedures or the Rules of Golf may result in round disqualification.
Intentional violations may result in tournament disqualification.
The Satellite Tournament Captain and/or Committee will review disputes, incomplete information, scoring issues, attestation issues, or procedure violations as needed.
